This modest website started 5 years ago as a vision of a future business centered around community... "The Owl Nest will be a wilderness retreat, international music venue, wellness center and an oasis for hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail. This modern-rustic sanctuary will be nestled in the Oregon wilderness."

 

Hi, I'm David "Owl" Chen. In 2020, right before thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, I built this website as a seed of inspiration to clarify intentions and essentially practice accountability with myself. Following the hike, I unexpectedly landed a job in Bend, OR and decided to fully embrace my "trail name" after that third major thru-hike. ​

Now, in 2025, that vision is softening into an acknowledgement of all that exists NOW within the incredible Central Oregon community...

To be clear, an ever-expanding vision does exist (and perhaps always will). The shift, however, is deciding that the miraculous awareness of life is enough. Community is the priority, and there are countless blessings all around... the expansion of life will grow from here. I have faith and endless optimism.
