The Owl Nest
Wilderness Retreat and Amphitheater

ABOUT

This website started 5 years ago as a humble vision of a future business centered around community: "The Owl Nest will be a wilderness retreat, international music venue, wellness center and an oasis for hikers on the Pacific Crest Trail. This modern-rustic sanctuary will be nestled in the Oregon wilderness."
In 2020, the founder, David "Owl" Chen, was just about to embark on a thru-hike along the Pacific Crest Trail; this website started as a seed of inspiration to clarify intentions and practice accountability. Following the trail, he unexpectedly landed a job in Bend, OR and decided to fully embrace his "trail name" after his third major thru-hike.

Now, in 2025, the futuristic vision is softening into an acknowledgement of all that exists NOW within the incredible Central Oregon community...
~ world-class music,
~ unique hospitality,
~ access to nature,
~ spiritual depth,
~ and so much room yet to grow.
To be clear, an ever-expanding vision does exist (and perhaps always will). The shift, however, is deciding that the miraculous awareness of life is enough. Community is priority; amidst the awkwardness of surviving "social distance," we are urged to dive deeper into "social discovery" and all that entails.

This website will soon evolve to hold space for visionary artwork, international travel to sacred sites, and more. Stay tuned.
